- To act as Owner’s Engineer
At Élan, we rely on a customized approach that draws on teamwork and optimum resource utilization, and produces solutions that are tailored to our clients’ needs without compromising on technical integrity. Field data is crosschecked at every stage of the study to ensure that it is technically sound and capable of delivering a result-oriented analysis. Every study is preceded by an examination of the project area in question, and its grassroots situation in the context of relevant established practices in the country and international guidelines. This allows our solutions to address the specific concerns of not only the energy sector, but also the public and other stakeholders.
Pakistan’s energy sector is currently passing through a transitional phase steered by the privatization of public sector entities and the establishment of various regulatory authorities to ensure that the sector operates according to accepted international practices. Interpreting the rules and regulations applicable to the oil, gas and power sectors based on the technical and socioeconomic conditions of the country is a complex task, but one that we are well-placed to address.
Élan’s professional expertise draws together a wide range of public and private sector experience, with energy engineering and economic specialists who are familiar with the process of arranging and negotiating loans, grants and technical assistance extended by multilateral and bilateral donors to the energy sector besides equity from national and international investors.
Our team is equipped to analyze a wide range of international energy data compiled by the International Energy Agency, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the Electric Power Research Institute USA. Apart from this, Élan relies on an extensive in-house energy database that helps form:
- A better understanding of the issues faced in any study and room for practical solutions
- An appreciation of prevailing trends in energy supply and demand
- The ability to demarcate core issues in a study.
The rapid depletion of fossil fuel reserves has serious implications for Pakistan as a developing country. The country’s energy sector has recently begun to explore other options for renewable sources of energy specifically wind and solar energy
Government initiatives in this regard are at a nascent stage, and there is a long way to go before emerging technologies for wind and solar power can be effectively utilized.
A major deterrent to this process is the lack of local expertise. Élan offers the benefit of a critical insight into government plans and targets, as well as being able to identify opportunities and obstacles in harnessing sources of renewable energy.
The CDM is the only instrument that is available for developing countries to assist them in achieving sustainable development and contributing to the ultimate objective of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to minimize GHG emission. It aims to assist annex-1 Parties to implement a project activity that reduces GHG emissions in non-annex-1 Parties which are mostly the developed countries, in return for certified emission reductions (CERs). The CERs generated by such project activities can be used by annex-1 Parties to meet their emissions targets under Kyoto protocol. Being the signatory of Kyoto Protocol Pakistan can benefit from CDM.
The processing of CDM projects is complex task and almost no or very little expertise is available in the country. The Élan’s professionals, by attending various training programs, national and international seminars have developed ample expertise in processing the CDM projects.
Most of the Pakistan’s energy sector entities are in financial crisis mainly due to management issues. Executive and Financial powers at various level of management play vital role in the performance of any institution. Our experts go in to details of all such aspects of management and provide practical guidance and integrated service approach, business strategy to turn the institution in to profit making entity.
